Annapurna Region is the most popular
trekking route in Nepal. There are four major trekking
routes in central Nepal: to Ghorepani / Poon Hill,
to Jomsom / Muktinath, to Annapurna Sanctuary / Base
Camp, and a circuit of the Annapurna Himal itself.
Pokhara is also a good starting place for short treks
of one to seven days is including the Royal trek,
Siklish trek, Panchase trek, Ghandrung trek, Sarangkot
/ Dhampus Trekking.
Central Nepal is dominated by Annapuma range. Diversity
in landscape and culture has made this region as one
of the most popular destination for the trekkers.
Trekking points are varied from short trip to strenuous
around Annapurna. Most of the inhabitants in this
region are Gurungs and Thakalis. As you trek in this
region the giant peaks Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Fish
Tail and other minor peaks are always around you.
There are sights of Buddhist and Hindus pilgrimage.
Kaligandagi flows through the deepest gorge. This
region has become an exemplary conservation area in
the world.
Annapurna trekking has been wildly recognized
as a naturalist's paradise. The upper sub-alpine steppe
environment harbors some of the rare snow leopards
and blue sheep. Other areas of the region protect
bird species such as the multi-coloured Impeyan, kokla,
blood pheasant amongst a multitude of other birds,
butterflies and insects. Many plants native to Nepal
are found in this forest.
For thousands of years people of diverse ethnic backgrounds
have scratched a livelihood out of its steep hillsides.
The advent of tourism and the phenomenal rise in human
population has triggered a process of environmental
deterioration. In 1968 Nepal's King Mahendra Trust
for Nature Conservation launched the Annapurna Conservation
Area Project
